Our First Adventure in Italy with the Kids

Traveling to Italy with children may seem intimidating, but our experience was absolutely magical! We spent two incredible weeks exploring Rome and Florence with our two children aged 5 and 8.

Trip Preparation

The key to a successful trip is preparation. We started planning three months in advance, involving the children in the process. They loved looking at photos of monuments and choosing activities they wanted to do.

Rome: The Eternal City

Rome was a real highlight for the whole family. The Colosseum fascinated our children, especially after reading stories about gladiators. We booked a special family-friendly guided tour that made the experience interactive and fun.

Practical tip: Visit tourist sites early in the morning to avoid crowds and heat.

Florence and Tuscany

Florence charmed us with its calmer atmosphere. The children loved the Ponte Vecchio and had fun counting the statues. We also took a day trip to the Tuscan countryside, where they got to see vineyards and taste delicious artisanal ice cream.

Our Best Tips

  • Book accommodations with kitchens to save money and have more flexibility
  • Plan regular breaks - children need time to play
  • Always carry snacks and water
  • Use public transportation, it's an adventure in itself!

This trip will remain engraved in our family memories. Italy is truly a perfect destination for families!
